Father and son team, Greg and Nathan Alker share over 45 years of experience in assisting both buyers and sellers successfully transfer ownership at the Hollister Ranch. What sets this team apart, however, is both their deep connection to the Ranch and unparalleled knowledge of nearly every parcel on the property. Greg moved to the Ranch in 1972 when he began work as a ranch hand and never left – Eventually raising his family there as well. Nathan took his first steps, caught his first waves, and later married his wife on the Ranch. There is very little about the property that they don’t know. Their formation of Hollister Ranch Coastal Properties in 2013 and now joining Sotheby’s International Realty in 2022 has since elevated the buying and selling experience at the Ranch to perfectly suit the individual needs of each client. With such an intimate knowledge paired with extensive experience in both buying and selling, Nathan and Greg are uniquely suited to support everyone from new buyers looking for an access interest to the high-profile client who values discretion in the highest regard. Greg Alker
Greg Alker moved to the Hollister Ranch in 1972, working for two of the first owners, Penny Brody and James Aurness. Because of his strong work ethic, he went on to work on over 70 different parcels, in a range of construction capacities. Having personally labored on over half of the parcels at the Hollister Ranch, Greg came to know the property inside and out. Now, with nearly 50 years of Ranch life experience, there is little he hasn’t seen or done. Since first arriving at the Ranch, Greg married and had three boys with his wife, Ruth – all of whom were born and raised on the Hollister Ranch. He says, “It has been an amazing journey to have raised the boys here. And now to see the grandchildren come and experience the Ranch just as the boys did is a treasure, we have been blessed to be able to pass on.”
Nathan Alker
Nathan Alker was born and raised in Hollister Ranch before attending San Diego State University where he graduated with a degree in business administration with an emphasis in real estate financing. After a few years spent traveling and guiding surf expeditions in some of the most premier locations in the world, he came back to town where he began a teaching career. But his passion for the Ranch never faded and in 2013, as a broker, he joined Greg Alker in the formation of Hollister Ranch Coastal Properties. Nate married his wife, Lindsay, on parcel 19 and now shares the Ranch with his three beautiful children. He says, “It truly has been a gift to experience the richness of the Ranch and all that it has to offer – from the mountains to the ocean – for all these years. It is something that I am passionate about sharing with my children.” Nate enjoys golfing and skateboarding, but his first love is surfing – a gift that the Ranch has provided since his youth.
